"Mouthy Hippos" - This was a rare sighting, while in Amboseli these two Hippos were having a bit of a mock battle, the Mother was letting her offspring learn how to fight but every once in a while things got a bit too much and she would give a powerful snap back. The saliva in this image really tells as much of the story as the size and bulk of these giants. Further, Hippos are usually only seen out of the water at dusk or dawn and this was well past dawn. It was a really interesting display of their power and what some would call grace as they sparred/learned. I hope you enjoy.
